Insurance

I do not bill insurance directly. If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement for a portion of the session fee. Many of my clients report receiving reimbursement for approximately half or more of the fee, although coverage varies considerably by plan.

You will pay the full fee at the time of service. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I recommend confirming your out-of-network deductible, reimbursement rate, and submission requirements directly with your insurer.

Couples therapy is often not covered when the primary focus is the relationship itself. Because I work with the couple as a whole, I do not designate one partner as the identified patient or assign a diagnosis solely for insurance reimbursement. Couples should plan to pay privately unless their insurer confirms coverage for relationship-focused treatment.

Why I Remain Out of Network

I have chosen to remain an out-of-network provider because it allows me to build the kind of practice I believe in.

It gives me the freedom to organize treatment according to clinical need rather than insurance requirements. It also allows me to maintain a smaller caseload, continue advanced training, and devote meaningful time outside of sessions to thinking carefully about my clinical work.

When a case would benefit from additional perspective, I seek consultation from experienced colleagues at my own expense. I believe thoughtful psychotherapy extends beyond the therapy hour, and I structure my practice to allow for that level of care.

Remaining out of network also allows me to sustain this way of practicing over the long term.

Frequency

I generally recommend meeting weekly, particularly at the beginning of treatment. Regular sessions provide the continuity and momentum that allow deeper emotional and relational work to develop over time.

Cancellation Policy

Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours' notice are charged the full session fee, except in the case of a genuine emergency.
